The Process

Viva Café and Bakery is a staple in the Kitsilano community of Vancouver, known for their baked goods and high-quality coffee. Viva was overdue for a facelift and over the course of a few years, Suki Creative Studio worked with the owners on various design ideas to bring the space to life, infused with inspiration from the owner’s personal life.

This space needed to feel bright yet intimate, both during the day and at night, as the café has future plans for evening drink service. We achieved this by using a dark colour for a feature wall along the back wall, which acts as a focal point, while keeping everything else very light and neutral. At night, all lights can be dimmed to create a different atmosphere.
